We are very grateful to Lynda Dalton for sharing her experience of Robotic Surgery on Brooklands Radio as part of Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month and we’re so pleased to hear she continues to do well. Lynda kindly participated in the RoBoQoL study that we are recruiting to with our colleagues in Middlesborough. This study is principally exploring the patient reported outcomes following hysterectomy for a gynaecological cancer diagnosis through open, laparoscopic and robotic approaches. Through funding from GRACE and other charities the Royal Surrey purchased their first robot in 2009 and since then have been able to perform 99% of our endometrial cancer surgeries (hysterectomies) by this route resulting in quicker recovery, next day (same day discharges in some cases) and improved quality of life.
