Many thanks to Felicity and Alan Comber and their family for welcoming us to their beautiful garden – Pratsham Grange in Holmbury St. Mary on Sunday 18th August. The garden is opened under the NGS Scheme but the proceeds of refreshments and plant sales are donated to GRACE. Felicity and Alan have sent us funds amounting to £1,400, which is truly amazing.

We were lucky with the weather, despite heavy rain the previous day and on Sunday morning. We enjoyed glorious afternoon sunshine. Pratsham Grange is an amazing garden with varied and luscious planting. There are lots of roses, my favourite being sweet scented Gertrude Jekyll planted en-mass, but also Iceberg, Emma Hamilton, Peace, Pascali, Sophy, St. Swithins, Teasing Georgia, Ruby Wedding and Molineux (named by the late David Austin, Rose Specialist – who according to Alan was a Wolves Supporter). I think Alan is a bit of a rose expert! We enjoyed the White Garden, the Yellow Garden, beautiful ponds and waterfalls, fruit trees, Kitchen and Vegetable gardens – we were even invited to help ourselves to raspberries. There were lots of plants for sale too.

On top of that we were able to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea with a simply amazing array of home made cakes by Felicity. It was a beautiful afternoon in truly beautiful surroundings.
