Stand Side by Side with Women Living with Gynaecological Cancers
Take part in Challenge60 this Gynae Cancer Awareness Month (September)
GRACE is proud to launch Challenge60 once again this September as part of Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month, inviting supporters across the UK to stand side by side with women receiving or living with a gynaecological cancer diagnosis.
Every day, 60 women in the UK are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer. Challenge60 was created to recognise this stark reality and to remind every woman affected that she does not face her journey alone.
Supporters are being encouraged to walk, run or cycle 60 kilometres throughout the month of September as a visible act of solidarity. Every kilometre completed represents walking alongside the 60 women who will receive a diagnosis today, and every day throughout September. It is an opportunity to honour those women undergoing treatment, those adjusting to life after cancer, and to those who have sadly lost their lives to the disease.
Challenge60 is about more than covering a distance. It is about showing women affected by gynaecological cancers that there is a community standing with them every step of the way.
Whether participants choose to complete their 60km through daily walks, weekend runs, bike rides or a combination of activities, each step taken sends a powerful message of support and compassion.
Funds raised through Challenge60 will help GRACE continue providing vital one-to-one counselling and peer support services for women affected by gynaecological cancers. The challenge will also support the charity’s ongoing work to improve awareness, understanding and outcomes for women diagnosed with these cancers.
A spokesperson for GRACE said:
“Every day, 60 women hear the life-changing words, ‘you have cancer’. Challenge60 is our way of standing beside them. Throughout September, every step our supporters take is a reminder that women facing a gynaecological cancer diagnosis are not alone. Together, we can create a powerful movement of support, raise awareness and ensure more women can access the help they need when they need it most.”
Participants can register online and are encouraged to create a JustGiving fundraising page to help raise additional funds for GRACE’s support services.
Everyone who signs up through the GRACE online shop will receive a bespoke Challenge60 medal. Costing just £20, the medal serves as a lasting reminder of the difference participants have made by standing side by side with women affected by gynaecological cancers.
Registration is now open.
