endometrial CANCER
Endometrial cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the inner lining of the uterus, it is also known as uterine cancer and womb cancer. It is most prevalent in post-menopausal women, although 20% of cases present in women of childbearing age. About 9,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the UK and approximately 2200 of these women will die of the disease.
Early diagnosis is important. More than 90 out of every 100 women (90%) diagnosed in Stage 1 survive their cancer for 5 years or more after diagnosis. Most of these women will have been cured therefore early diagnosis is very important.
