Ovarian CANCER

Ovarian cancer is cancer in the ovaries, tubes and peritoneum. All of the cancers present similarly, and are managed similarly. About 7,500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year. The risk of developing ovarian cancer is very low in young women, 80% of ovarian cancer occurs in women over 50. The symptoms of ovarian cancer are often rather vague and non-specific and are therefore sometimes ignored.

COMMON SYMPTOMS OF OVARIAN CANCER

  • Persistent abdominal pain, bloating or swelling.

  • Loss of appetite, difficulty eating and feeling full more quickly.
  • Discomfort in your tummy or pelvic area.
  • A change in bladder habits not explained by dietary or lifestyle changes.

Seek medical advice if you’ve experienced any of these symptoms persistently, if you have a family history of ovarian cancer, or you’ve been feeling bloated, especially more than 12 times a month.

Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery, Role in Optimal Debulking Ovarian Cancer, Recovery & Survival

MIRRORS is a new UK based feasibility study, based in Guildford, UK, exploring the role of Robotic interval debulking surgery for ovarian cancer. We would like to determine whether, in selected patients, robotic surgery offers improved quality of life and recovery with equivalent overall and progression free survival.
